The Platform Room

A different perspective on space, opening up bold new possibilities

The platform room is a NewHeight Group space innovation allowing for privacy, natural light and extra storage. Think about space in terms of volume – cubic feet, not square feet. By raising ceilings to 10 feet, the sense of space, light, and volume increases exponentially. Unit layouts break away from traditional room arrangements, giving way to fresh ideas. The resulting floor plans showcase uninterrupted ceilings and rooms that flow from one to another, in some units, rising up and creating unique private spaces.

The platform room is a NewHeight Group space innovation. Typical condos (left) have walls that prevent natural light from reaching interior rooms. Raised rooms (right) allow for privacy to the person above yet enjoy natural light and views. A bonus is extra storage under the platform.

Artist renderings of a Luminato one-bedroom unit show this sample platform bedroom—complete with workspace, the kitchen bordering the platform room and the living area with oversized windows that let daylight and nighttime views reach the platform room.

From the raised platform bedroom, light and views are appreciated while complete privacy is created by the walls. The workspace seen on the left is above the refrigerator in the kitchen below. It is the high ceilings that allow this design. Underneath the bedroom is an extensive storage area for holiday ornaments, off season gear and luggage
